Frequently asked questions
Will it store my password?
Don't give it one in chat. Sign in yourself on the Bot's browser; the site's own session cookie is what persists. Read the recipe
Does it work when my laptop is closed?
Routines run in the cloud, and the Bot uses its own computer, not yours. Read the recipe
Do I need to write the file myself?
No. Ask the Bot to write it, then review what it saved. Read the recipe
Can my other Bots use it?
Yes. Saved skills are shared across all of your assistants, so any of your Bots can use them. Read the recipe
Will it submit forms or send emails for me?
Sends and submissions need your explicit approval. Emails always stop at a draft card. Read the recipe
Can it phone a company?
This page doesn't cover calls. Stick to written errands. Read the recipe
Does a paused routine use usage?
No. A routine that never runs spends nothing. Pressing Test does, because it does the real work. Read the recipe
Should I raise my limit first?
The official Routines help suggests pausing unneeded routines and widening schedules and triggers before raising a plan or on-demand limit. Read the recipe
Can it delete thousands of emails at once?
Only if your connected mail account's tools allow it. This recipe uses small approved batches and prefers archiving. Read the recipe
Will it unsubscribe me from lists?
Clicking unsubscribe links contacts the sender, so it should ask you first, per sender. Read the recipe
Will contacting support help?
Yes, if the checks above do not explain it. Include the time, the Bot, and any exact error text. Read the recipe
Can a routine keep failing silently?
On the phone, Run history shows Running, Succeeded or Failed with a reason, so check there. Read the recipe
What if none of my tasks fit?
Run a one-off research or file task instead, such as 'make me a spreadsheet of X'. It's still useful and needs no schedule. Read the recipe
Will it email people on its own?
No. Outgoing email goes through a draft card that you approve. Read the recipe
Which email services work?
Gmail and Outlook through their connectors. Read the recipe
Can I change the schedule?
Yes. Just say 'move my weekly report to Monday 9am.' Read the recipe
Can it issue refunds in Stripe or Shopify?
This recipe deliberately doesn't. Refunds stay a human decision. Read the recipe
Can it complete the purchase?
It won't spend money unless you explicitly approve a specific purchase. This recipe stops before that point. Read the recipe
Does it check keyword volume?
Not without an SEO tool connected. This recipe doesn't assume one. Read the recipe
Does it need my X account?
No for public posts. Your DMs, bookmarks, or home timeline need the X plugin. Read the recipe
Can it reply or post for me?
No. These tools only read. Read the recipe
Are there limits?
Yes. Built-in X reads are capped at 30 calls per minute and 1,000 per day, with up to 25 results per call. An hourly check stays far under that. Read the recipe
Weekly version?
Add 'Every Monday at 9:00 AM' at the start of the prompt and 'only posts from the last 7 days'. Read the recipe
Can it add the tasks to my project tool?
Only if that app is available as a connector on your account. Otherwise it keeps a list in chat or in a file. Read the recipe
Can it message the seller?
Not in this recipe. Outgoing messages would need your approval anyway. Read the recipe
Does it update HubSpot or Salesforce?
Only if you connect that app. This recipe uses a CSV so it works without any. Read the recipe
Can it auto-send obvious replies?
No. Every outgoing email needs your approval. Read the recipe
Can it triage a shared support inbox?
Yes, if the connected account can see it. Read the recipe
Can it schedule posts to X?
Not with the built-in X tools, which only read. Read the recipe
Can it buy or send things on its own?
No. Email and messages go out as drafts that you approve, and it won't make purchases without you. Read the recipe
What are the X limits?
30 reads per minute, 1,000 per day, and up to 25 results per search. Read the recipe
Private repos?
Connect GitHub when it shows the connect card. Public repos need no connection. Read the recipe
Images or video?
It can describe and search context around them, but tracing a manipulated image is harder. Ask it to state the limits. Read the recipe
Can it send the report to my accountant?
It can draft the email with the file attached. You approve the send. Read the recipe
Can it pay the bill?
No. It summarizes and drafts, and you pay. Read the recipe
Can I filter by subject line?
Not in the trigger. Tell the instruction to ignore non-matching subjects, as in the prompt above. Read the recipe
Will it buy the item?
No. It only watches and reports. Purchases always need you to confirm. Read the recipe
Can it run more often than daily?
Yes. Routines can run as often as every 5 minutes, but daily or hourly is usually plenty. Read the recipe
What if the site blocks it?
Some stores make automated reads harder. Grok Bot will tell you when it can't read the price instead of guessing. Read the recipe
Can it read paywalled sites?
Only what's publicly readable. It should report a failure rather than make up a summary. Read the recipe
Weekends?
Change 'every weekday' to 'every day'. Read the recipe
Can it email the newsletter?
It can draft one. Every send needs your approval, and newsletters go one recipient per message with an unsubscribe link. Read the recipe
Can it post in Slack as me automatically?
Outgoing messages go through draft cards that you approve. Read the recipe
Can it send from this address?
Yes, but only as a draft that you approve each time. Up to 50 recipients per email. Read the recipe
Can my other Bots use it?
Yes, in your own chats and routines. Not in Slack threads or other people's chats. Read the recipe
