Answer first: Connect your email, then ask Grok Bot to "every Friday at 4pm, summarize this week's emails about <topic> into a short report." It saves a weekly routine that reads your mail and hands you a draft. Nothing gets sent unless you press Send.
Test status: drafted from Grok Bot's documented routine and connector features. Not tested end to end against a real inbox yet.
Who it's for
Managers who write weekly updates, freelancers tracking client threads, and anyone who rebuilds the same summary from their inbox every week.
Steps
- Connect your Gmail or Outlook when Grok Bot offers the connect card.
- Choose the topic, sender, or label the report should cover.
- Paste the prompt below.
- Grok Bot saves a weekly routine and confirms the day and time.
- Every week, read the report. If you asked for an email version, review the draft card and press Send yourself.
Copy-paste prompt
Every Friday at 4pm, read my emails from the past 7 days about <TOPIC / FROM SENDER>.
Write a short report: key updates, decisions, open questions, and next steps.
If I want to share it, draft it as an email to <RECIPIENT> for me to review. Don't send it.
Expected result
- A weekly routine is listed in Grok Bot.
- Each Friday you get a concise summary in chat.
- If you asked for one, a draft email card waits for your approval.
Gotchas
- Time zone: "Friday at 4pm" follows Settings → Bot → Timezone.
- The first run waits for the next Friday. Press Test to see a sample report right away. A test does real work and uses part of your plan's usage.
- Narrow the scope. "All my email" makes vague reports. Name a sender, label or keyword.
- Draft cards don't send themselves. If you don't press Send, the report never leaves.
- Account choice: if both Gmail and Outlook are connected, it asks which one to send from.
FAQ
Will it email people on its own? No. Outgoing email goes through a draft card that you approve.

Can I change the schedule? Yes. Just say "move my weekly report to Monday 9am."
