Answer first: Tell Grok Bot "every hour, search X for posts mentioning <keyword> and send me anything new." It reads public X posts with its own built-in X access (no X login needed) and runs that check as a routine.
Test status: one real public X search was run on 2026-10-16. It returned 10 posts, 2 of them off-topic (see Gotchas). No scheduled multi-hour routine run has been tested.
Who it's for
Founders watching their brand name, marketers tracking a campaign hashtag, and researchers following a topic or account.
Steps
- Pick your keywords, hashtags, or @accounts.
- Choose how often to check: hourly, or a daily digest.
- Paste the prompt below.
- Grok Bot creates the routine. Each run, it searches recent public posts and reports the new ones.
Copy-paste prompt
Every hour, search X for recent posts mentioning "<KEYWORD>" or from @<ACCOUNT>.
Send me only posts you haven't shown me before, each with its link and a one-line summary.
If there's nothing new, stay quiet.
Expected result
- An hourly (or daily) routine in Grok Bot.
- Short alerts listing new matching posts with links.
- Silence when nothing new turns up.
Gotchas
- 25 results per search. For busy keywords, an hourly check can miss posts. Use narrower queries (exact phrases,
-is:retweet,lang:en) or split them into several searches. - "New since last time" depends on the instruction. Keep "only posts you haven't shown me before" in the prompt, or alerts will repeat.
- Noise: keyword searches pull in off-topic replies and look-alike names. In a test search on 2026-10-16, 2 of 10 results were off-topic. Add exclusions (
-giveaway,-from:<spam account>). - Cost: hourly means 24 runs a day, and each one uses part of your plan's usage. A daily digest is much cheaper.
- Like and view counts are a snapshot taken at the time of the search.
FAQ
Does it need my X account? No for public posts. Your DMs, bookmarks, or home timeline need the X plugin.
Can it reply or post for me? No. These tools only read.
Are there limits? Yes. Built-in X reads are capped at 30 calls per minute and 1,000 per day, with up to 25 results per call. An hourly check stays far under that.
